Cauliflower Karaage

If you know me you probably know how much I love fried food … Karaage chicken is life but chicken is not always a good idea SO here is a recipe with cauliflower! It’s super super tasty and a cool vegan alternative. You can use the exact same recipe but with chicken or even shrimps.

The sauce is a vegan oil free – mayonnaise. You can as well use normal mayo, it’s up to you and your taste.

Ingredients

  • 1 cauliflower

  • Some frying oil

  • 1 TBSP Soja sauce

  • 1 TBSP Mirin

  • 1 TBSP Sesame Oil

  • 1 TBSP toasted sesame seeds

  • 1 TBSP Rice vinegar

  • 1 tsp Wasabi paste

  • 1/2 CUP Flour

  • 1/4 CUP Tapioca Starch

  • 1/4 CUP Water

  • 1 Tsp Black pepper

  • SUSHI RICE
  • 300g of Sushi rice

  • 45g of rice vinegar

  • 20g of sugar

  • 7g of salt

Directions

  • Bring a pot of water to a boil, bleach your cauliflower cut in small pieces for 5 mn.
  • Wash your sushi rice a lot until the water is transparent. Put it in a pot, put the lid on and bring it to a boil. Once it boils, lower the burner and let it simmer for 15/20mn until all the water has evaporated. Once its ready, add your vinegar salt and sugar mix and delicately mix it.
  • KARAAGE: Mix all the dry ingredients and incorporate them to the wet ones, let it rest for a few minutes. If it seems too liquid you can add a bit of Flour.
  • Get your oil warm, until 180°c. Dip a few pieces of cauliflower in the batter and fry them. Once they are nice and gold ( 4 mn), put them on a paper and add salt.
  • Plate your amazing fried cauli! You can serve it with any sauce. I eat it with an almond tahini & wasabi sauce but it’s up to you.

Si vous me connaissez vous savez surement que l’huile est mon amie! Mais peau d’adolescente n’est surement pas du mĂŞme avis mais il faut savoir faire des choix dans a vie.

Peu de temps après avoir emmenagĂ© en IndonĂ©sie, j’ai attrapĂ© une drĂ´le de maladie de peau ( aujourd’hui guĂ©rrie) mais toujours non identifiĂ©e. Les mĂ©decins Indonesiens m’ont immĂ©diatement ordonnĂ©e d’arrĂ©ter de manger du poulet et des oeufs car ils sont hyper modifiĂ©s et bourrĂ©s d’hormones. Je n’Ă©tais dĂ©jĂ  pas une grande fan de la viande mais ça m’a bien calmĂ©e.
